ZOOP is a service that can completely
replace the wallet with a mobile
phone.
ZOOP allows multi-card, multi-service
with one mobile phone (one chip).
Different from the other new
electronic payment solutions that
needs to replace the existing
card access terminals (CAT), ZOOP
service can be enabled by simply
attaching a proximity payment adaptor
(RF,Ir)to the existing CAT and POS terminals.
There are no burdensome legacy
costs.
The payment process uses the existing
back-end system so there are no
additional infrastructure costs
and the infrastructure can be
established rapidly over a wide
area within a short period of
time.
A Long Distance ZOOP Base Unit
has been developed for such places
as tollgates, parking lots, tunnel
and drive-thru where the user
can make payments from 3~5 meters
with a simple push of a button
even from a distance without interference.
Harex InfoTech¡¯s ZOOP service
is the world¡¯s first commercialization
of a payment service based on
RF and the IrFM world standard, and will
be interoperable on a world-wide
basis.
Based on this interoperability,
preparations are being made to
commercialize the service beyond
Korea in such places as the U.S.,
Japan, Europe and Singapore.
On April 25, 2000, in Silicon
Valley, Harex InfoTech was the
world¡¯s first to demonstrate and
show the possibility of using
infrared technology in mobile
phones for payment service. From
April 2002, national commercialization
of the service commenced in Korea,
making it the world¡¯s first full-scale
commercialization of a credit
card payment service using infrared
technology in mobile phones.
ZOOP technology and business model
is patented and protected worldwide.
